I'm just a stupid youngster (HS), and I'm just wondering how many places from regionals qualify for nationals in each event? (is it 5 or 8? I really dont know...) Thanks

5 automatically go, finishers in the 6-12 spots are considered for the at large bids based on their position on the descending order list (typically 5-8 are taken per event).
Thank you!
Is the "descending order list" basically the list of all the top times run in the country this season? Or is it based on regional results? Thanks.
Fastest times run this year...once you are in the 6-12 range, your actual finish at regionals is irrelevant. ie: Brie Felnagle will get an at large birth, even though she finished 11th at regionals. Some of the girls who finished 6-10 will not.
Thanks and I assume that times from regionals will be added to the descending list? Also, is there a minimum number (5?) of at-larges that will be added to the field?
Is the descending order list available online I know Trackshark has one, is that the official list?
I think it's the same list as these from the NCAA web page...
