What will MSU be in the new poll? Top 20? This is a shocking result. Does anybody know if MSU is for real or did Weber have an off day?

MSU is for real. They have three very good runners and 2 good runners. If their top three run well all are possible all-americans.
Weber had a 36 second split and could not beat MSU.
The mountain region IS GOOD THIS YEAR.
go jon gibson. msu is very for real. it has been great to see the build up of the program over the last 5 years. slow strides and now a huge one.
I just posted this under the Weber State thread, but I figure I'll ask on this one too. I now believe that Montana St. if for reals, but I'd like to know how real. I was wondering how hard you trained this week. If you didn't cut back then that's a heck of a race. ANd I too am curiuos if WEber had an off race or if they were banged up from Minnesota.
Somebody on dyestat said that Weber trained through the meet. They ran a 20 miler on Monday and a 2,000M repeat on Wednesday and they all ran about 85 miles for the week. And they said that Montana St. backed off for the meet, how much I don't know, they didn't say how much. But that gives us a better perspective on the results. But Montana St. is pretty good. A lot better than I would've imagined. Underrated in my opinion, but they should move up in the next poll. But they may have still barely edged out a fresh Weber team in a small race like this. In a bigger race I would say Weber could put more pace between their 4th and 5th and Montana St.'s 4th and 5th.

Sure doesn't look like MSU tappered into the meet to me.
Check out the article about the race:
Eminem show said "in a bigger race Weber could put more places between their 4th and 5th man and Montana State's 4th and 5th".
Actually, MSU's 4th (Gibson) was in front of Weber's 3rd (Long). Gibson was also in front of Tolman (Weber's 2nd) with about 300 to go.
Also, check the link a few posts above for MSU's training into the meet. No sign of a taper.
But you have to look at the fact that Atwater for Weber St. had a terrible race and finished as their sixth man. He is normally in their top three. He is an all-american in track, and I garantee he won't run that bad at pre-nats or in the big sky conference championships. So you throw him in higher around Tolman and Weber's 4th and 5th will put space between Montana St's. Not to mention their spread in Montana was the worst it's been all year. The question is how much space will Montana St. put in front of Weber's top guy in a big race. They would have to place three (in my opinion)in front of Weber's first to beat them again. But that is definitely possible. I hope they get in the same race at nationals, so all these questions will be answered.
But the bottom line is the Big Sky Conference is a lot better than most people give them credit for. It's got to be one of the toughest in the nation. It has three potential top 15 teams.
Has Atwater ever run under 25 minutes for an 8K or 5 mile?
According to the article which quaoted The Weber State coach, even if Atwater had run well MSU would have still beaten Weber.
If Atwater had come in with Tolman, MSU would still have won.
