UWO will beat both LAX and SP, guaranteed. I saw it in a dream.

If Stymeist gets back to beating McGuire, there's a remote chance they grab a trophy.
I think Cortland takes North Central by around 20 points, but I'll agree with most that wouldn't be shocked to see NCC win the whole thing. Only one WIAC team podiums, and that team is La Crosse.

Strangely enough, I no longer pick Hamilton\'s Kosgei as the *prohibitive* favorite for the individual win. Yes, if I were forced to bet, my money would still be on him; but I think he\'s now slightly vulnerable to the kind of race he got last year, though there are only a few guys with even the possibility of racing him even-up throughout. I\'m one of the people who thinks teams don\'t race enough nowadays, but paradoxically I think he may have had one or two *too* many races. OTOH if he was just cruising to some of those wins, he\'ll be truly untouchable!
So who is your new prohibitive pick?
I agree Oshkosh could be a surspise if Kaul, McGuire, and Stymeist run like they did at the WIACs. Oshkosh seems a little weak in the 5th spot though
i think oshkosh has a chance too ranger. i don't think they can beat la crosse, but point seems to be on the down slope
Can anyone confirm that Kosgei has a torn left quadricept? There were rumors in the local newspapers that he was injured on a morning practice during strides.
concurer... how the hell is Point on a downslope?
PREDICTION GAME
How many points do you think the winning team will score?
Kosgei is fine- duct tape, pain killers, and a pep talk will take care of pain. Anyone else need a colonic cleansing?
I am.
At least this forum is good for something, Kosgei made an appearance (take care of that leg my friend) and everyone else searching out the best party
Thank you sir, I appreciate it. I'll be fine. Quad is a little tight but not too bad. We're busting out our new jerseys at nationals this year, my whole team will be wearing them. Screw SUNY, we're looking to win the damn thing.
ha
I am really sick of Cortland saying that they are going after the lowest point total in national meet history. Henry quoted this again on Trackshark and i can not even fathom how they believe they are this good. Wouldn't you want to keep this goal secret anyways, or maybe only talk about as a team and not publicize it. What are they trying to prove, that they can back up their huge mouths? You didn't hear Calvin saying this crap in 06' when they manhandled everyone.
I don't even think Cortland will win the meet! North Central has a way tighter pack and strong experienced runners who won't cave like last years shit show. Cortland will have 4 AA's most likely but i think North Central will have 5 guys around All-American as well, with 7 probably in the top 50-60.
Lacrosse is running tougher, Allegheny always comes on, Williams, Point, Oshkosh, Mellon and about 100 other guys are ready to bump Cortland. I hope they get beat!
Team:
1. North Central
2. Cortland
3. Lacrosse
4. Calvin
Individuals. (top 10 order)
Kosgei, Kaul, Mull, Christianson, Nally, McKay, Kosgey, Harvey, Faller, Moran.
I don't think Cortland really knows how hard it is to get that record low score. The 2006 Calvin Team had 2 in the top 10 3 with displacement and were 5 points off. They would almost certainly have to have 3 possibly 4 guys in the top 10 and their 5th would have to be in the mid teens. I think the race for the team title will be a lot closer than they are expecting.
a few quick thoughts:
- Cortland's Ego is unjustifiably inflated right now. They are good, but not that good.
- What about Brian Butzler's leg speed?
- How many golf carts will be present on Hanover's course, and what plan is Willy Kaul planning to evade these carts?
- Is anyone else fearing the oatbag?
i respect cortlands decision to openly speak about what they want to accomplish in all honesty. this is what the sport needs they arent going out of their way and acting like they are head and shoulders above everyone else but they are striving to be the best ever which everyone wants to do. no one hates on german fernandez for coming right out and saying he wants to be the best in the world. so why hate on cortland for shooting to be the best they can be.
its gonna be tough wrote:

you are forgetting that all of their runners have raced in the national meet at least once. They have the physical talent to do what it takes. its all going to come down to whether they can hold it together mentally, but they have great and experienced leadership under nally who will be racing his fourth national race. its going to be though, but i think its an achievable goal if they can hold it together.
It is Nally's 3rd NCAA XC race. In 2005 he finished 6th at Regionals but under the old system that was not enough to qualify.
Cortland scores 47 points at regionals and talks about getting the lowest score ever at nationals. I don't care if their front 3 were running easy, and even their back 2, that's just not gonna happen. How many points is the record? Is that not lower than their REGIONAL score?
They have a lot of competition this year from NCC, LAX and (in my opinion) Williams. Maybe they should worry about winning nationals rather than some silly vanity goal.
Of course, maybe that's what they are concentrating on. No disrespect intended to their team.
