Internationally, the steeple is dominated by Kenyans, who have terrible form...when you're good, you're good.

This team is unreal. Those times on that course are absurd. Villanova was 1 point faster. Ridiculous.
whats the distance for that race?
Cortland has certainly separated themselves from the D3 competition. Can they put it together when it counts or is it too early? And, will they compare to the Calvin team from a few years back?
It was a 5.2 mile race. First mile was downhill and the race started on the fairway of a golf course. The rest of the course was rolling hills with a climb during the last 1.2.
kaul was not in a golfcart accident. he got a bad sideache at notre dame. he's fit... end of story
The trackshark guys posted an interview with Cortland's Seth DuBois yesterday:

Well how the hell was the story concocted then? WTF.
Can Cortland beat out the '93 NCC team for lowest point total? They have the guys up front to place high, but is the rest of the field weak enough for Cortland to put 4 in the top 6 like NCC?
Anything from Oberlin today?

NYU men (and Schneider) win handily, CMU runs JV:
http://www.goyeo.com/documents/2008/10/18/OBERB8K.html?id=426NYU (34sec spread for scorers) had a guy run 25:37, finishing 32nd of 270 finishers--and didn't make the Violets' top seven.
Also, Case women cruised:

Some notable races today.
Paul Moran of Lacrosse ran a 24:54, which is the same time Tyler Sigl ran last year at the race, a few seconds faster than Erichsen (#3) ran. Moran was a monster his freshman year (3rd in the 10k). He'll be in the mix.
The top Cortland guys will be there, especially Nally.
At Oshkosh, Willy Kaul ran a 23:59, faster then Sigl ran at Regionals last year - a week before he went on to beat Kosgei.
Obviously it's a bit early, but some great performances.
Can any of these guys take down Kosgei?
Yes, they will. Next question.
the answer of course is no...if you want to compare times Kosgei ran 25:22 at the meet he ran last week last year...this year 24:39 after jogging the first mile in 5:08
Course conditions were faster this year at Drews than last year. Still a great run by Moran, he's a top 10 guy if everything doesn't go to hell in handbasket.
As for Kaul, Butzler ran 24:01 last year at the Oshkosh Invy, and he only wound up out of the top 10 at NCAA's. It does show Kaul is fit and can beat some big names, but I think at this point, that race alone does not indicate his ability to big Kosgei.
Last year Butzler also ran a hard 10 miler for the Army a week after that Oshkosh meet...this I believe took away from the remaining success of his season. Also you can't compare Willy Kaul to Butzler in a Long distance race. Kaul has the 10k experience and is a national champ in the 5k so I would say Kaul does have the best chance out of anyone to take down Kosgei. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but if it does I think it will be Kaul who does it.

The Army 10 miler was the week before Oshkosh last year. That said, I agree with your point of Kaul being a truly accomplished distance runner with the best shot at Kosgei.
Especially after getting hit by a golf cart only 3 weeks ago.
You need to do your research. Kosgei of Arkansas was not injured during the indoor season. He ran unattached for eligibility reasons.

That was last spring, and he beat the "other kosgei" who was hurt all of indoors... wooo!
I'd say that the guy hasn't raced anyone good from D1 all year, and won't, so why talk about him being AA in D1? Maybe he could, maybe not, there's no way to connect the dots.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
