Checking the D III results shows that there is some good distance runners coming out of SUNY Cortland from 1500m - 10 000m. What's up?
Good work guys.

Good work guys.
Good coaching, good trails, and a small school that gives athletes more than their fair share of good breaks. Not a lot of action available or trouble to get into, and HS super stars don't go there to potentially burn out. Good runners go there to become great.
This is no surprise, given that they finished 3rd or 4th (can't remember which) at XC Nats in the fall. In fact, I personally think that some of the 5k/10k guys underperformed this outdoor season. Regardless, I'm pretty confident that they'll be back out in the fall in the hunt for the title since most, if not all, of last year's team is back.
Although this is certainly true, they'll be doing it with a different distance coach. The current coach, Matt Moran, is leaving to take a full-time teaching position at Sacred Heart in CT. Coach Moran is a great coach and great guy and deserved the assistant coach of the year award for the atlantic region he recently recieved.
Never heard of them.

wow, you must be pretty important then! thanks for letting us know.
These guys are all doped to the gills. Have you ever been to a meet they are at? "back"-ne and roid rage abound. Beware.

Teaching or coaching job? What does he teach?
Interesting, I had no idea that Coach Moran was leaving. Thanks for the info.
According to his bio: Moran has a PhD in biomechanics from Penn State.
I think the Cortland gig was his first teaching or coaching job after finishing his doctorate. The potential for him to do poorly was there as the replacement for Jack Daniels but Moran his done great (as a coach, teacher, recruiter, etc.).
With the job he's done, Cortland is/was a great resume builder.
Moran will be moving on to Sacred Heart to just teach in their exercise science department. He will not be coaching there. He has done a terrific job with Cortland's distance team and will be sorely missed. It is a shame that he did not garner a team national championship during his stay. It could be that he is leaving just one year too early.
