I'm a guy and I started running xc my junior year of high school, I ran a lot of easy miles my senior year and managed an 18:00 5k. I havent run since the end of the season and I am trying to start running again, but I don't know where to start. Some people say do intervals, others say to run lots of easy miles, I dont know how to devise a proper training schedule. I dont have a particular race that I am trying to peak for, I just want to get faster overall, my goals as of now are to run 1600m in under 5 min, my fastest time was 5:19 in a workout.
