When I was a swimmer sometimes we used to do these work-outs called pride work-outs.
They would go something like this. 100 x 100 yards on the 1:10 go. You don't have to do all of them; just quit either when you can no longer make the interval or you give up.
The time interval was usually set so 20 repeats would be easy, 50 would be about right and 100 would be a huge break through.
These workouts were mainly for the distance crew and they had a few purposes, one of them being mental and another to learn how to pace properly.
I was thinking of applying them to running work-outs. Maybe something like 40 x 400. Yes it would be mental!
Anyone every done anything like this or have opinions on it. Again it would be geared more for distance type runners.
