Hey guys and girls... Im getting ready for the 100m race in a few weeks and I'm not sure how to run. Im currently running 15 miles per week, and have PRs of 2:53 800m, 5:40 1609m and 11:05 1618m. Also, I've run a 5,000m time trial once and recorded a stopwatch time of 16:57.37 (I would say it should have been around 16:57.53 if official). My coach thinks I should move down in distance for some reason, so's trying to turn me into a sprinter.
So, the question is how should I approach this race? Should I lead from the start and make it a gutsy race? Pace off the lead pack and rely on a kick? Should I start hard for the first 40 meters, pace myself for the middle 40, then give it all I have for the final 20? Also, what should my traiing be for the 10 days leading up to the race? 15 miles per week seems like a lot for a 100m runner.
