I am going into my junior year this coming fall and trying to get ready for the cross country season. Over the last year, however, I have had a series of incidents that have basically prevented me from running and exercising at all (mono, stress fracture, car accident).
I went on my first run in nearly a year today and it went horribly. It was going to be a 2.5 mile run, and it turned into a 1.5 mile run/.25 walk/.75 run.
My freshman year I ran 1:55/4:00 running around 50 miles a week (I have never been high mileage).
So my question to you is how should I go about this? I have until the 3rd week of August to get into some kind of shape. I am not looking to be our #1 guy, I just want to get out there competing and maybe be respectable by track season. I still look like a runner, 5'11 140 lbs, so losing weight is not an issue.
Thanks!
