Has anyone run this race? I am considering to run it, but I want to know how bad the hills are. I grew up on flat ground. Do I need to train specifically for hills? I know San Fran is a very hilly city. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yeah, it's pretty hilly. There are a couple of steep ones in the beginning, but it really gets bad in the second half when you have those san francisco block-long hills. Also, if you're reasonably fast, you're going to be running by yourself for the second half of the race. To offset this, they may waive the race fees if you've run under 2:40 recently. It's actually a great race, but the 5:20 start time is terrible. I think everyone agrees it's a nice race with a lot of potential, but it chooses to be lower-key than the big city races.
my $.02 - the current course does a good job of going around the hills - you climb up to the GG bridge early in the race - you have some rollers midway through the race - once you hit 19 you're done with the hills
the early start is rough, but it was pretty cool being done with the race that early in the day
also - the weather should be perfect
