I do not have a choice but to bandit. I really want to run this race and have absolutely no problem with paying the $ to register, however, the race is closed so I cannot register legitimately.
I went to register 2 weeks ago and the limit had already been reached. This is my own fault too. I could have done this sooner but just got lazy and then it became too late.
I do not plan on eating any of the food or anything like that as I understand that it would not be fair for me to do that sort of thing.
I've never been a bandit before. Is this that bad of a thing?
I'm going to bandit my first race this weekend.....

no, but give a check to the race org. or the charity it's for. that's only fair.

I was going to sign up for Boston this year. But then I forgot to train, got fat and wasn't able to run a qualifying time. I had no choice to bandit, either.
I was going to train more for Sarasota. But I didn't. And then I has stomach problems. So I turned around early on the out and back. I had no choice there, either. -
No eating or drinking, and also be sure not to cross the finish line. If you do those things, you are golden.

I'd agree. Drop out well before the finish line. -
Whats the point of running a race if you don't even get to cross the finish line and find out your exact time? Or even get to relax after and grab some food? Why bother?
If it was a marathon or something I would understand wanting to have people to push you, but if its just a 5k, I dont see why you would bandit. Sounds stupid to me. -
Realize you are breaking the rules and your plan can backfire:

Yes you do have a choice. You can choose not to run the race and sign up for it next year. But you are making the choice to bandit instead?
Where did you get the idea that the fact you "really want to run this race" somehow entitles you to run it? If I really really want your money, am I entitled to take it? -

Why? for having and enforcing their rules? Apparently, NYC had a different view. -

Can someone explain what about the race these runners were protesting? Not being allowed to run as someone you are not? Seriously, I don't get it. -

it's a half marathon. i am running it with some of my co-workers. i've never raced a half marathon before and do not plan on "racing" this one either. i plan on running it hard but since i am not in the best shape and have not raced this distance i am just going to run with some of my co-workers at an easy pace (for me about 8:30 pace or so). -
It's cool. Just don't eat the food, drink the fluids, or cross the finish line.
-
The race is probaly run on public roads and the roads are paid for by our taxes so he has every right to run.
-
You are already getting off to a bad start as a bandit by telling everyone you are going to be a bandit. A true bandit bandits the race without anyone knowing he was a bandit. Just jump in at the start, look like you belong, don't cross the finish line, (just pass it off to the side) and don't eat any more of the food than the average spouse would take while cheering on their significant other. The only time people make a big deal about a bandit is when they cross the line in a small race and mess up the times of all the runners behind them.

That the philosophy that gives race director's gray hair.
Grow up.take a number at an up coming event, and stay out of the way of the legit runners in this event. -
you f***ing bitch...just eat the food and like it.

I don't teach highschool anymore. Is 'douchebag' the new 'sick' word that losers use when attempting to be cool? -
yeah, about 15 years ago

Yes, that term is old and worn out. I hear the hip new term with which to insult someone is "dweeb". All the kids are using it these days.
