HAIL DESTROYER!!!
Certianly not Stanford or Mt. Sac, but nice to see someone try to fight for the non-superstars and develop some guys (especially non-West coast). I researched the mens steeplechase and it has been very good on the men's side for a good couple years and looks like the womens races are at least decent this year.
Does Stanford pay for all these great athletes to attend?
FYI

Tynica Davis has run fastest time of this season 2:05.67

This used to be among the best meets in the country (almost like the Pre meet). Looks like they're moving away from professionals and really concentrating on college teams (too many Big 10 teams though).
Don't think there is the $$$ to bring in big names...Years ago they had alot of sponsorship to pay atheltes to come...
It looks like Gary has done a good job in the past two years of making it a better meet after years of noone giving much attention to it.
Gary has organized some sweet men's steeples and miles for a while now. Nice to see him at least field some womens races and looks like the overall meet will br strong. I also doubt he has anywhere near the budget of any of gthe big meets.
also, Macadams will win steeple this year under 8:20.
Jordan Fife is listed on the heat sheets of both the Stanford Invite and this one..two days apart?
There may be others doing this, will they actually do both or is it a last minute decision thing?
My guess would be Fife runs Stanford, all his teammates are running there.
Friday night May 2nd we invite you to come out with us for some trackside grilling. Burgers, brats, and some fast times on the track await you and your friends. The Jesse Owens meet is known to have great races, and Friday night highlights mostly distance events
Go Julia!
fife is in columbus
How on earth does Gary have time or energy to be the head mens coach at a major university, be meet director, and still run for the Olympic Trials steeple?
I think Gary has retired from racing....
Good guy...
Now if the women could get a "real" coach!!
The steeplechase is going to be an incredible race. I'd like to see Clint Wells have a good one after a couple of years off the track.
The invite mile the next day should also produce some sub 4:00 times! Strange they have both a mile and a 1500m.
Gary is very retired from his own mouth. Both a 1500 and a mile is nice for college guys to either practice rounds and/or 2 cracks at getting regional mark.
Having the 1500 on Friday and the Mile on Saturday allows the steeple guys to double back in the mile, and the 1500 people to run in the 800.
See goes 3:40
