I am a freshman in high school and have a PR of 2:04.09 in the 800m. I am thinking of doing cross country this upcoming year (my sophomore year) and really want to break 2 min. my sophomore year of track.
I was wondering if you can help me devise a schedule to train for the whole summer until xc starts. My track season is over and i want to start base building in 2 weeks time. I was thinking of doing 40 miles or so which is an increase from the 20 miles per week from track this past season.
I was also going to do 3x a week strides after my runs and maybe throw in one 20-30 minute tempo run to keep up my speed. The last thing I want to happen is me losing speed and then not reaching top form the time track rolls around. I have never done cross country before and i want to reap the maximum benefits from doing it this upcoming year. Do you think you can help me out?
