Anybody get one that works? I got one for my wife for when she walks, but I can't get the damn thing to sync up with a Mac or PC!

you have to download the software prior to inserting the usb portion of the band. I was explicitly told to do this otherwise it may cause problems with loading on the pc/mac.
I did that. However, when I try to log in, the "username" indicates "pending".
Try the following:
Record a small run on the SportBand (you can tap the sensor on your leg to do a fake run)
Plug in the SportBand and don’t click anything, let it work it out.
If the run doesn’t go to your account, go back to the settings (click the (i)) of the Nike+ Utility and click LOGIN under the user tab
Then you should see all runs that are on the sportband upload to your account. You will still see the word pending...under the username in the software.
Then record another small run (tap the sensor, red side up on your leg to fake the running signal)
When you insert your sportband into your computer this time all of your runs should go to your account automatically and you should see your email address in the USER tab of the utility.
are they actually any good?
Here is what I've experienced. I made the mistake of trying to use the very simple picture guide provided with the watch. I suggest users download the user guide from Nike. I had the iPod sensor in my shoe to start with, so I tried to sync to this sensor. Mistake #1. The watch is shipped synced to the sensor in the box, so I had to hold the side button down for 10 seconds so that I could link to the new sensor. After doing that, I was able to start recording runs. I did some practice runs (actually just walked up and down the hall), and then plugged the watch fob into the computer. The run would upload, but the watch would not update my user name. I tried three times with no luck, so I called Nike support. The woman on the phone told me her experience was that it took 5 or 6 uploads before the watch would automatically sync up to the Nike+ website and display the username in the window. On the fourth try, it worked. I am going to use the watch on my run tomorrow AM to see how accurate it is compared to a Garmin.
i second donkey nuts.. rather than troubleshooting, can someone explain whether this thing is worth running with?
I've ran with the nike sport watch for a few days now and it seems pretty accurate right out of the box. I keep meaning to get over to the track to try synchronizing it, but i'm in no rush..I checked two of my runs on mapmyrun.com compared to the sportband, and it's within .1 mile for two different 12 mile runs. as for whether it's worth running with, that's your call...i don't really feel like i need it for easy runs/long runs. I like having it for workouts outside of the track.
can you only buy it at Niketown?

Well that would be up to you. Do you like running with a watch? Then the answer would be "yes". Would you like to know how far you ran? Then the answer would be "yes". Care to know your pace while you are running? Then the answer would be "yes". Would you like all that for $60? Then the answer would be "yes".
When does it come out?
I can't get mine to sync up with the chip. I tried all the resets but nothing has worked. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks, President Clinton. You're right, I probably shouldn't leave all my purchasing decisions to anonymous message board posters, like I typically do. Nor should I value anyone else's opinion.

Didn't mean to sound snide, but seriously, if you currently wear a watch when you run, then this watch is worth replacing the one you currently use. However, it doesn't measure splits, so it's not good for interval workouts. As for accuracy, my wife walked my Garmin-measured 5K loop yesterday and it came out to 3.16. However, I ran a Garmin-measured 5.65 mile loop this morning, and the Sportband measured 5.72. The first 2 miles are up a fairly steep grade, so the choppy steps might have made the difference. In terms of usefulness, to be able to get your time, distance, and pace easily displayed in 1/10 the footprint of a Garmin, the ability to keep a running log online at Nikeplus.com, and get all that for only $60, I think that "yes", it's worth it. Also, if you are not keen on wearing a watch, the USB fob that does all the measurements will easily fit inside the key pocket typically found in of most running shorts.
Was this a more helpful response?
just admit you got it for yourself not your wife. We won't make fun of you, gearhead.

I had to do the hard reset (both buttons for 10 seconds) and then had to do the side button for 10 seconds. Your sensor might have gone to sleep as well, so try pushing the button on the under side of the sensor for one second.
