There was some conversation about that on the "Stanford meet" thread.
I remember hearing some months ago that over the summer she will be visiting schools like Stanford, Oregon, Washington, etc. However, it seems as if some people are saying that she is planning to go to Stanford? When has she said she's planning to go specifically to Stanford/or hinted towards going there? Anyone know? Thanks.
i think it is possible she might forgo collegiate athletics. she is good enough to go pro right out of high school similar to webb or felix. it will be interesting to see what she does.
No she isn't.. the only high school distance runner who might be able to do that would be Chanelle Price. She doesn't even have the A time for the Olympics.

But there was enough hype around him that EVERYONE who gave a shit knew every meet and every race that he ran, a pattern that continues today. Assuming she improves her times by her senior year, Hasay will have similar options.

Thing was, Webb was WAY ahead of all the other high schoolers with the sub 4s.
Hasay is not (Babcock 1 second behind her in the 3200, and has a faster PR than her in the 1600)..
I heard that a lot of college coaches don't want to recruit her because they're afraid she's going to burn out soon.

people said that 3 years ago when she was in 8th grade too...and look how much she's "sucked" over the years.

Hasay is nowhere near as good as Webb was. She'll have to improve A LOT to reach the level he was at in high school, and she's been improving at a snail's pace since 8th grade.

Well, she's definitely not going to "suck," but I'd bet that she'll go the way of prep phenom Melody Fairchild who actually did end up competing for Oregon... decent in college but nowhere near living up to her "purported" potential. She did eventually fill out.
She's not as good as Webb. I would disagree with the phrase "nowhere near" but that's not the point. The point is that ebery race she runs is talked up before and after here, she's made a big deal of at every tace she runs and it helps that she has a history of winning. A goddamn silver medal at World Youths is no joke.

She seems like a smart, nice kid. She's very good. A couple of years of college competition will suit her fine.
She's like little Mary Decker! I think she may have adjustment troubles...but when that's over...be afraid, record books, be very afraid.
Looks like the Farm. She's running this Sunday, and has been given permission by the NCAA and Stanford to run.

No one can say what she wil do in the future, but let\'s apply the same test one uses to size up the aging of one\'s girlfriend: I stood next to Jordan\'s mother at the Stanford XC invite a couple of years ago, and mom is a very slender woman.

if she keeps training hard, she may never be one, never fill out and gain weight. she could be a little girl forever.
well 8th grade she ran a 10:30ish 2mile right? and shes at 10:03 now....so i think almost 30 second improvement to one of the fastest times ever over that distance is pretty good. i cant wait til she goes pro eventually and people are still saying shes gonna burn out.
