It's getting hot and hydration on long runs is critical.
I just bought a Camelback. Never used one before, but I need to stay hydrated somehow.
I don't think it makes me less of a runner. It just makes me a smart one.

Troll...jogger
I hear ya. Running in 110 heat can kill you. I do a lot of loops from my house but I'm thinking about a camelback this summer.
I prefer the toe to the back.
sorry, first thing that came to my mind.

It was brutally hot here last summer. I'm not going through that again with adequate hydration.
I don't know what the big deal is with people here thinking it's for losers and joggers. You have to hydrate.
Anyone else use a Camelback? If not, how do you hydrate?
"CamelBak"
The best option I've found for long-distance trail running or mountain biking. When I'm running roads and not needing to grab branches on steep climbs or decents, I take a hand-held bottle. Nuff said.

I just loop home and get a drink. You don't have to replace all the water you are losing, so stopping every ~4-6 miles and drinking a pint is sufficient to stay alive.
I can't do loops unless I climb 450 feet in elevation each time.
when did everyone start saying "hydrate" instead of "drink?" you people have been reading too many ads.
I've never run with one; I've walked and bicycled. what's remarkable about it is I didn't think I'd finish the contents of the entire camelbak, but I did only 15 miles through a 30 mile bike ride. Shows you that you will drink if you have it available. I think mine was 2 litres.

I can see why. It must be hard to grip a bottle after using your hand that much.

wow. post of the day. totally called out 99% of us. can't let this one go unoticed; should be the homepage quote.
I use one, I have for years. Unless it's really hot, I only bring it with me for my weekly long run, 17+. My current camelback carries 70 onces of water. Previously, I had the fanny pack style and that carried about 40, I think. I often found the 40 oz was not enough, so I hope my new one will work well this summer.
I don't really like to run loops by my house, I hate stopping, and 20 oz doesn't feel like enough, so for me a camelback works well.
I use one on longer trail runs in the summer, especially if I am not familiar with the trails.
You can call me whatever you want. I am out there enjoying the trails and don't really care if you think I am a dork for using one.
Where I live it is hot and arid ok semi-arid to be precise. Anyhow, there are practically no trees where I run - telephone poles provide the only "shade". We get like 320+ days of sunshine, the humidity is routinely in single digits. As soon as it starts to get hot, I take water. Call me a loser, jogger, etc. fine - when I see you out on a run begging for water, I have some ball sack sweat for you!

When I started associating the word "drink" with booze.
"That guy drinks a lot." I hear something like that, and I just assume it involves alcohol.
