I know it's oold news, but HBO is running tons of ads for this movie at the moment. In one scene, Gore is describing the number of refugees there will be due to melting of the polar ice cap.
My problem with this is it's sensationalism, yada yada. Even if the ice caps melt, the increase in sea level will be so gradual (at most, inches per year) that no-one in the U.S. (e.g., NYC) will be a refugee. This directly conflicts with the images shown of NYC being overrun with flood victims.
My other problem is Gore's presentation style; he speaks as if everyone is an idiot and only he understands and can explain what's going on.
Great, I agree, let's all do our part to cut down on the damage we are doing to the earth and the environment, but he remains the typical politician with his do as I say, but I am exempt because I'm so important. In my book, he's not much different from the preacher (or prosecuter) that rails against prostitution and then is caught with a hooker.
