I hope to god everyone that got worked up about the WSJ calling 3:10 a notch below world class has called the BAA to let them know how pathetic that is. Total discrace.

Im glad that the guy finally ran the marathon. If I had a nickel for every time people debated on this board how fast his marathon could be, I would have retired long ago.
Well done Lance.
Maybe you've been out of the country for a long time (or maybe you're not in the U.S.), but that was Lance's third marathon.

"disgrace"
A negative split marathon is not possible without drugs. It doesn't matter if it's a 2:04 or a 5:04, the human body cannot run a negative split clean. Not possible.
That is not true...many people negative split on many different levels...
maybe he's just trying to be like hesch with the shorts?
You do know pointing out typos isn't going to make your dick bigger right?

Oh sweet GOD what pluralistic horseshit! I cannot respect the BAA or Armstrong ever again, they're as bad as Oprah or Paris Hilton.

Get off your high horse, big freakin deal, as other posters have said he didn't seem to know it was going to happen. Even if he did, has it really altered your view of the BAA marathon that much?

Someone buy that man a respectable pair of running shorts.
Seriously. The full body smock and capris probably kept him from dipping under 2:50
Yeah, it has. Take your apathy and shove it.

I'd like to hit you with a really large stick.
Well, I have to admit he was right. I did spell the word wrong. However, I do wonder what drives the motivation to point out typos. I assume he doesn’t point out grammar mistakes to strangers he over hears talking ("Excuse me gentlemen, but "y'all" isn't a word, you should have said "all of you"). It’s a bit disingenuous to get all worked up about it here and not in real life.
I think those were nike frees that he wore. Do you think that was a decision he made to try to go faster or was it just the only pair of shoes with the wearyellow or 10/2 logo? It might actually be a good idea to run in frees because they are lighter than a typical training shoe but more built up than some road racing flats.
Negitive split not possible? Are you kidding me? It happens many times at every marathon. Look at the results from yesterday. Top three women all did it or are you claiming that they are all on drugs?
Apparently the use of sarcasm is lost on you.
I can't believe blatant sarcasm about the impossibility of negative splitting without drugs seriously got two people worked up.

How does short length have any correlation to performance?
An article on the Runner's World web site says they are Lunar Trainers. Also, for those who care, the Nike guy just posted on their forums that Cheruiyot's shoes were the Hayward 3+ and that he saw them for the first time at Niketown Boston and decided to wear them.

Oh the irony. What if it turns out the new $500 adidas shoe is just way better than Nike's?
