I know a guy who's 7 year old son runs 20+ miles a week, cycles 80+ a week and swims 2-3.
This seems excessive to me, any one else?

How does a dog cycle?
yes, that is a bit much. the father is sacrificing normal development. remember the karate kid that was 8 years old and had the strength of a 40 year old man? this kid was all over the t.v. during that time. the kid lifted weights 3 times a day, ate low fat high protein meals and he looked like an 8 year old zeus. after awhile he faded from the media because he is no longer an 8 year old wonder. i recently saw an update on him and he looks like some kind of a circus attraction. the young man is extremely under height for his age and his face looks old. the young man is very muscular still but his size works against him in the bigger competitions. if you want to leave a mark of history in this world, try not to do it until you have reached puberty.
it depends...is he having fun? is he doing this stuff with kids his own age?
What will his 5k time be based off of this type of training?
