Seriously... John had assembled and developed a team that had a chance to run for the xc title and now, looking at Stanford results, the entire program is in the crapper. How'd that happen?

1) Coach Mann moves to Louisville
2) Last of Mann's recruits finally graduate
3) Arizona left with bare cupboard
Happens all the time in other sports, especially college basketball (See: UK's 1998 Championship under Tubby Smith then crap afterward).

Uh, they were 4th at the NCAA meet last fall (2007). If that is what you call a bare cupboard. Judging a program after the first weekend in April is a bit of a rush to judgement.
Not in the distances. When are you going to run fast? Stanford / Mt SAC / Stanford. NAU did run Stanford and stunk it up pretty bad. Not even a shadow of what they were in the fall and even further away from what they should have been.Where's the fast import kid and why did everyone else run crappy?

Hayes left NAU with more talent than any coach could dream of inheriting. The talent he brought in before he left was great. The guys who were there before seem to have dissapeared. Cardenas and Bostrom?
Alan you don't have a clue.
In fairness, they only had 5 decent guys in XC and their top 2 runners were Lomong and McNeil. Lomong went pro and McNeil had a nice indoor season(7:51/3k) before running World XC Champs (and not Stanford).
Bostrom was their #3 man from XC and ran 29:17 at Stanford.
Ashkettle was their #5 man from XC and ran 14:17 at Stanford and 14:09 indoors.
