How close do these things feel to running barefoot? Worn out shoes always seem to be the cause of my injuries, yet I never have a problem running barefoot.
I wish they'd make those in a super-huge Shaq size. I'd run all over the woods and watch for a spike in bigfoot news reports.
I have the Fivefingers classic, and they are definitely the closest thing I've worn to actually running barefoot. A really unique "foot experience"! You can basically feel like you're running barefoot on concrete/asphalt, without the worry of problems you'd experience going barefoot on such surfaces. Word of caution though-- if you're going to get a pair, go with the Fivefingers sprint or the new KSO. I really have to 'cinch up' my classic pair, and this causes friction in certain places (and yes, I had tried a smaller pair, but they were too small). The sprint and KSO models likely provide a more custom and secure fit.
these are like rubber linings for the bottom of your foot, nothing else. This is as close to running barefoot without being barefoot that you're going to find.
Try to find them in a store to try on, though, because they don't really fit everyone like their size chart says.

But in reality, do these provide any cushioning or are they pretty hard on the feet?
It's just a rubber sole. no cushioning to speak of..
