Can anyone give me some information about the Track/XC Programs at Babson College and if the coaches have any pull on admission?
Thanks.

Babson has track?
their men's xc team is an absolute embarassment
check out results from 2007 D3 New England Championships

they'd be a sub-par girls team
If the school is so bad at xc... I doubt that they care enough to let the coach have pull for admissions. I could be wrong though?
Babson is full of rich people....if you want a decent track program and a better business school go to on of the other 2 B's Bentley or Bryant. Bryant's program is getting better and will be D1 in a couple of years. Bentley's coach is a little weird but the program isn't bad.
They got medicore for a while in the mid-90's.
Bentley is better, but not as good a school.
Babson is probably one of the top business undergrad programs in the country. I had a lot or friends who went there and all landed great jobs.

The programs might not be successful in terms of championship performance, but this is partially because the programs are very young (especially track). The programs have had a tough time in past years due to a lack of pull for the coach and funding; however, the new AD is more involved and respects Track and XC more than previous AD's. The current coach is a VERY dedicated and knowledgable coach. Not only is he a good coach, he's a great person. I think the lack of results has been due to a lack of resources, but this is now changing. The coach actually does have some pull now so don't be afraid to apply and contact the coach. I'll be the first one to admit that Babson's tough academic stance has hurt the performance of Track and XC.
It has also been tough to get recruits because of the fact that Babson has one of the highest workloads in the country and scares people away from partcipating in sports while at school. From my personal experience, its really not that bad and playing a sport helps you academically because it helps you stay focused and prioritize your work.
Best of luck to you.
Bentley is more of a distance program always much better than Babson or Bryant. Solid runners every year. Team has made NCAA in cross and they have qualifiers on the track. Last weekend at Texas Relays best runner Stephan Ramirez ran 4:08 in the invitational mile. The DMR ran 9:58 indoors. Call the coach or talk to any of their runners.
