I've been running for almost a year now and I'm concentrating on lowering my 5K time. I've built up to about 25 miles/week and can run close to that pretty consistently. The problem is my running is getting kind of stale. I've been running mostly easy miles since mid-December/January with intervals, tempo run, or a race every couple of weeks, and strides maybe once a week. I want to start Daniels' a shortened Daniels' plan (phase II, III, and IV, maybe two workouts/week), but I'm wondering if my mileage base is too low to handle it.
So what should I do? Continue running mostly easy miles, feeling stale, until I get to 40mpw or so, OR move into the shortened Daniels' plan until my last race in May, maintaining around 20-25 mpw, then start building my base again to 35+ mpw in the summer after a break?
