Pro - I still say El G's 1500/mile. If someone can break that, then they will break the 3K/2 mile easily. There is NO WAY that Bekele will break the 3K record.
College - It's not really fair to judge individual colleges, as the scholarship game has changed so much since Ryun's day. Plus, there's way to many other factors. That being said, the 800 record is safe for some time. And even though I think Webb may have opened the door for young talent to go pro right out of highschool, there are many other examples of athletes splitting time between college and international competition (Rupp, McDougal, Solinsky, Ritz)
Here's one: Quincy Watts (USC) - 400 - 44.00
Highschool - As for Chapa's 10K HSR, we've already seen Rupp beat that by over 15 seconds, and he was just out of HS. I think that record will go down if we ever get another 8:40 kid to try the 10K. Webb's mile record is untouchable for now, because any kid who has the potential to run 47/1:47 is going to be bred into a 800 national champ. Whether Rackzo was a genius or an idiot for putting that kind of talent into the mile, (I guess it didn't hurt to have two sub 1:50 guys on the team at once) it's a move that most HS coaches won't make.
