Oldest Collegiate School Records: Olympic Champs Charlie Moore's 400mH Record Falls

UVA's 800 meter record held by paul Ereng, even though it is not very old, will probably never be broken. 27 on the all-time list, 1:43.16.

I didn't know the Mad Fisherman was:

1) an Olympic champ; and

2) that old.

(God do I crack myself up with my regional outdoors sports references. Ha.)

here are some school records for the books. here are parts of the top 10 lists that are crazy times for back in the day on dirt tracks for hs kids. I left out some modern times that were like 60's and on. just 50's and back.

Can anybody find the real records for the 1912 or 1908 in the 100 because the ones that i found are slower then the ones this school converted for 100 meter times, or are these times that history lost and should be counted as new WR's at the time?

After looking at all of these times from this private HS this might be one of the best track schools before 1960 that nobody remembers. Some of these time and throws are very close to the then current WR's. Looking at the shotput if the site I found is accurate the guy was within a few inches of the WR. Meredith Went on to break the 400 and 800 records and I know some of the other guys went on to be olympians because they have their jerseys hanging in the shelves at the school.

That is some crazy times for a school that long ago. Suprised I have never heard of that place before

I have the following regarding F. F. Risley's running broad jump (as it was called then) of 22' 10". Risley was from the famed Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania, and that was the winning mark at the Middle States Interscholastic competition on May 20, 1905 at Franklin Field, Philadelphia, PA.
