what a performance.
Nick Symmonds = Runnersworld model. Not a serious runner.
You are truly ignorant! I agree Kaki is a phenomenal runner and appears at this stage to be the next 800m world champion if he progressively improves as expected. The world indoor finals was the fastest indoor race in years, with personal bests for all the runners, two national bests, an Asian best, and a world leading time! Symmonds ran a PR in a fast race, unfortunately placed sixth. You should note that he is the first US runner to appear in a world final in - what? 5,8,10 years? the stats geeks can tell us. While you're on your computer thinking up nifty insults, Symmonds is out putting in 10 miles of base training, EVERY DAY! While you're drooling over American Idol, Symmonds is out cranking out 50 second 400 repeats, in the rain! Symmonds happens to be the best the US has to offer; if you're embarrassed by his efforts, that only demonstrates your shortcomings. Symmonds was 1.7 seconds behind KD in 2006, now they are a chest hair apart. From what I hear from his college teammates, Symmonds is an intense competitor and should never be counted out. I am sure he will get together with Gagliano and figure out how to trim another 1.5 seconds off by the time the Olympics roll around. You should visit Symmonds.com web-site and read the blogs. It reveals the type of runner who has been an inspiration to runners at every level and who we should be proud of to have represent us at the world level.
Yawn. The proof will be in the pudding.
I'm a supporter of American Mid Dis runners, but Krumm won in '03 and 1'46 is great inside, but there are college runners every year running around that time. 1'46i doesn't mean he's gonna run 1'43 outside. And he made it into that final by luck of the draw, had he been in KD's semi heat I think things would've went differently. None the less, Congrats to him for a good indoor season.

The 18 yr old ran the fastest time ever by a teenager indoors and jumped into the all-time top 10 indoors- so it's NOT a surprise that noone was able to defeat him. His focused is now the outdoor WJR in which he will have to run sub 1:43.7. Anyone doubt he will do it?
It's not the fastest time by a teen indoors. Borzakovskiy ran 1:44.35.
That's if Kaki is really a teen, what with the "loose" calendars employed by African Federations.
