I have put in about 700 miles of base since late November, and I've averaged around 55 miles a week with a couple of peak weeks at 65 miles. I have been doing long tempos and long intervals since January. My tempos have been about 5 -6 miles at 5:50 - 6:00 pace. My long intervals have either been miles or 800's, which I have been doing around 5:20 pace. I've done a 6x400m workout at 71 seconds per lap and a 8x300m workout at 51 seconds per rep. I ran a 5k in late January for a PR of 16:59 and I recently ran a half marathon on a semi-hilly course in 1:21:18. My past track times aren't very impressive. Last year, as a freshman, I ran 4:43 in the 1600m, 2:07 in the 800m, and a disappointing 10:46 in the 3200m (I only ran it twice.) However, last track season I had almost no base mileage at all. I'm just curious to see what I can run this season. I want to break 4:35 and 10:00. I don't really know about the 800m, because I don't really like it. Haha.
