Don't remember seeing this last year.
You gotta pick Smith or Caitlin Lane for the girls. Not sure for the guys.

I love the girls.
Leslie is coming out from bad weather and no indoor track so I have a hard time picking him for this race, but he'll make his presence known.
Last year in three consecutive races he went 4:08.40 1600 (57 last lap), 4:09 mile, 3:50.99 1500.
Watch out for this guy later this spring.
This is a homer call, but I'll pick Corey Leslie. He's got excellent finishing speed and just came off his best XC season ever. Just missed Scott Fry's school record last June in a negative-split race.
I can see Smith--she's run 4:46
Not sure about Lane she doesn't usually do well at the big races but maybe she will she's a sr now its her last chance.
Bridget Dahlberg, Kristin Reese, and Brianna Welch all have the 800 speed to break anyone but Smith or McCurdy and I don't think McCurdy is strong enough over a mile to be in it.
I personally know McCurdy, and my thoughts are that she will hang tough as long as possible and use her footspeed as much as she can to stick in it remember she ran a 4:28 1500 last summer and a 2:06 800 as well so you never know. It will be a tight pack eeither way. Kristen Reese, and Brianna Welch will be buttin heads at the front as well, and look for tori penninngs to surge away a little earlier then normal to try to make up for her lack of footspeed.
On the boy's side look for a sit-and-kicker to develop as the kickers will be licking thier chops. Taye hasn't done well in big races, and Kyle Merber has won every race he's been in this year 3rd best in the country 4:15.04. My guess is that it will be a showdown between my good friend Merbs and Charles White 4:09 last year. Dont know much about the other guys
Prediction Reese & White/Merber photofinish
White has split 50.00 for the 400 and merber can go 1:54 they both love closing very strong around 58 idk we will wait and see. But nod to my man Kyle Good Luck buddy. and you to sarah/
Why are they making that baby race a mile?
How can a high school girls mile race held in Boston not include Emily Jones the best hs girl distance runner in New england? She has an indoor mile pr of 4:55, not to mention her other accomplishments??
probably because her coach is smart enough to keep her out of a 100% meaningless race.
gotta love the toads!
the jamul toads were a great 70s club led by jc coach bob larsen. members included dale fleet, ed mendoza, kirk pfeffer, terry cotten and thom hunt. i am sure i missed someone. they won XC nationals in 1976.
Because Caitlin Lane (or her parents) thought it would be cute to send in pictures of her childhood. I thought Sarah McCurdy's shot of her dropping the baton was priceless she obviously has a sense of humor if she can see that and include it too.
The race organizers asked for action running shots, prom photos, baby pictures, etc. Some did... some didn't send them. It was a nice personal touch by the folks in charge.
its all about Jessica Parry, nuff said.
hey LI,
Got any inside dope on the Super Bowl? your predictions were ridiculous and show zero knowledge of the HS running scene.
