If Huckabee runs 4:30 at Boston, will the others demand equal time?

Surely you jest. Many of our presidents have been extremely un-religious or even anti-religious.
The first six presidents Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, JQ Adams) were not members of any church and were extremely skeptical of religious influence in American government.
Likewise, one of the greatest presidents, Lincoln, didn't belong to any church, and many of his friends and law partners said he was practically an atheist.
It's only in recent years that the religious right has pressured politicians to talk about their religious beliefs, and to publicly profess a deep faith.
I don't even know where to begin with your post. If you would read the speeches of our early presidents, you will find them full of references to God. It is especially interesting that you note Adams, as many of his speeches serve as famous examples of how presidents have spoken of religion and God.
Also, please research Lincoln before you form a biased opinion. His life was marked by a transition from being agnostic to believing in and speaking of a very personal God. Reading the Gettysburg Address would be a good place to start.

4:30 is not an impressive time by any reasonable standards.
My knee-jerk response would be to agree. However, people who take up these things in middle age or beyond tend to get a lot of negative encouragement. I mean remarks on the order of, 'Oh, don't push yourself too hard,' 'Just be happy to finish,' 'Take walk breaks,' 'Six hours is good enough.' Yet here's someone who isn't being coached, isn't doing high mileage (you can tell by looking at him), and he still beat out a lot of first-timers in their 20s.
I never said conservative=fundamentalist nut...I said Huck is a fundamentalist nut because he is...

It is amazing how letsrun posters can take out of context a beautiful event to promote healthy lifestyles with the Hoyts and Huckabee. This had long been planned before the White House. The Hoyts and Huckabee have overcome great odds to run marathons. Huckabee is there to continue to promote health as he did as leader of Arkansas. He immediately took the battle to other states. You all need to understand the story and see he was given a Hero of Running for his actions:

Amazingly Huckabee has a similiar story to Obama. The difference was one worked for a church and the other a non profit organization. These two people both saw the needs of society and felt government could do a better job representing the common people. That is reason for both of them being in politics. Ironically, that is why conservatives do not like his moderate views.

BFD. He can run if he's got the qual time so what. The wackoh is a nut job mythologist. The dude would have the U.S., Crusading in the Middle East for his mythology, when we ought to be rebuilding New Orleans.
Maybe we should send all those from New Orleans to the middle east.
Volunteering others to go to the Middle East is why Huckabee is a Chickenhawk Coward. Where was he during Vietnam, Desert Storm, Panama. He never served in the Army. He's just a big talker, flag waver. A phony patriot.

I guess that means that every person in the US who is not in the military is a phony patriot. Nicely done. Chickenhawk Moron for President!!!

Jefferson believed in a creator.
That's debatable. Especially if you're using wikipedia. And many scholars will claim he was in fact spiritual, believing in a metaphorical creator. Probably not religious though. By today's standards, he would be an apostate incapable of being voted into office.
So with Hillary and Edwards voting for the war in Iraq, are they Chickenhawks too? Or is this a statement only applied to the right.
Also, Obama is going around defending his faith. Is he turning into a "right-wing fundamentalist nutjob". How can he bring faith into politics, separation of church and state?
sarcasm is intended

So I just read on another forum that Mike Huckabee is going to run Boston...? I didn't even know that guy was a runner. After a google search, I found that he had lost 110 pounds (good for him) and run 4 marathons.
I still won't vote for him, but that's nice to know he's a runner.
He is not a runner. He did all of this when he knew he wanted to get on the good side of Americans, and hopefully run for public office. Both of which he did.
He should have plenty of time to train, since he will not be doing much else by March.

No, he did it after his doctor told him to change his lifestyle or else he was in his last decade of life. To his credit, he followed orders, dropped over 100 pounds, and has finished 4 marathons. Whether you agree with his polotics or not, give him some credit for that.

Our election process is fascinating. Most candidates claim to embrace Christian ideals. If they are sincere, that certainly seems counter to the political correctness of our times. If they are not, it makes them lying politicians. The term religious right seems to imply Christianity is some sort of hard-ass right wing group of religious nuts when a careful reading of the New testament could make an argument that Jesus was a socialist.
