yes
How come? Why does Facebook have more appeal now?
I am pretty sure that MySpace is still beating out Facebook in terms of size. However, Facebook is catching up. MySpace has always been open to everyone, while Facebook initially just accepted college students (you had to have a .edu email address to join). Later, Facebook created a site for high school students, and has since opened up to everyone.
If you just look at numbers of active users, MySpace is still by far the biggest online social network, with almost three times as many users as Facebook, which is the second biggest network. Facebook has been growing much faster than MySpace for some time now, so you could say it's more popular in that sense. Plus it's been much more successful than MySpace at stopping spammers and other types of fake accounts that will inevitably make MySpace so annoying to navigate, that it will make people leave in large numbers.
I have both and rarely check or update my myspace page. All I get on myspace are spam messages from sluts or fake messages from my friends who have been hacked. Facebook is definitely more user friendly and less annoying.
This is more relevant to the discussion probably.

It seems facebook has a greater appeal internationally than in the US in comparison with myspace.
It also seems that people on Facebook are more comfortable in putting their full identity with their first name and last name on their account and connecting with "real friends".
With MySpace it seems like the people use it as a place to "hookup", scam, and doesn't seem like you can take anyone seriously on there. Doesn't seem like you can meet "real" people and there are so many skanky girls on there.

Well obviously you do since you took the time and effort to post.
MySpace user numbers are pretty bloated. If they could somehow take out every page that is made by a:
-spammer
-nightclub/bar/concert hall
-band/musician hawking their crappy music
-movie
-business
-fanboy/girl (myspaces of famous people made by fans)
-person who started a myspace page, realizes it was stupid and gave up (like me)
and only include people who legitimately use MySpace as a social networking website, you would see far more parity in terms of users.
Facebook is, and has always been, more popular among the better educated.

Wow, the Canadians really love Facebook over MySpace. Any explanation, friendly neighbors to the north?
Myspace is dying, it is completely outclassed by facebook. Statistically it might seem like myspace has more users, but that's because people's myspace pages still exist after they've switched to facebook. The only thing myspace has going for it are the band websites.
