I guessed that originally, but have you seen how many guys can run a 26 min 8k in college? Or how many HSers and post collegians can run that?
There is A LOT across the nation when all put together. That's 'only' a 15:46 5k according to McMillian.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there's plenty of liars, but there are many 16 flat types out there. It might not seem that way because there's only a few at local road races, but if you put together all the races that weekend, even in your area, there's a good number of fast guys out there.
