Trivia question: If a Canuck ran A or B standard there, would it actually count?

NO... not a certified course.
Well, even if it's equal to 1-2 minutes faster than a flat course this is still a great run for Charles and a still equal to a solid PR. It's just too bad a person needs to guess about what this time is equivalent to. Hope he runs another fast one on a certified course in the spring.
it is a certified course, the only course certification is the distance the IAAF could give a shit what the course outline looks like for qualifying standards. World records are a bit different.
never run CIM have you? Similar drop as Boston...do you think that Beantown is 1-2 minutes fast?
The waiting is getting pretty ridiculous. What's the freakin' holdup?
A 1-2 minute advantage for who? Haile or a 4 hour marathoner? It is always a bit redundant to talk about a course having an X minute advantage... because that will vary for different ppl.

No, it isn't.
Wouldn't count for OG because it is not on IAAF list of qualifying races.
Impalas qualified 1, Caroline Annis, 2:45ish. A bunch more were sub-3:00.
First, I'm responding to Sundog and his estimate of 1-2 minutes (this isn't my estimate). Second, this race is touted as being a fast course, Boston is not. Third, no I haven't run CIM but I do see a lot of people setting PRs at this race.
Boston is a fast (aided) course, whether it's touted that way or not.
I can assure all of you..that CIM, although at certain sections is fast, the first half especially is very rolling and is not flat at all..ran with the lead kenyans for 18 miles before fading to 4th in 2:19:35 and went out way too fast through the first half in 1:07:08. Some people run fast on flat courses, other can go to places like boston and just drop the hammer down..its still 26.2 miles and you have to maintain the pace or die trying to keep up-heading out of sacremento now.
Nate
Nate, nuff said. you're 2:19 is a 2:19 regardless. Why are you on the computer? go have a beer!
MattyP..love ya bro...im getting on the plane and having a beer there...talk to ya soon:) I did have a pina colada though:):)
Nate
How does it feel that the USATF does not think that your time deserves to be in the trials?

"Some people" do course-specific training, too.
So, this "International Marathon" started 12hrs ago. You will all of course tell me if I'm merely gripless in this area. But anyway.....
WHERE ARE THE RESULTS???
Nicole Cueno is my son's closet friend and he just called me to let me know she had run 2.42 and taken second, which was also worth $5g. Nicole was a runner at Grinnell College, and holds something like 7 all-time records at the college at every distance from 1500 up, was a former D3 national champ at 1500m, and was inducted into the Grinnell College Athletic Hall of Fame just 2 weeks ago.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
