Not to belabor the point....
It's not just the phone call never being made. I think every XC and track/field senior who goes through the recruiting process gets their first lessons in the "business of college athletics", learning that despite the high brow proclamations of institutions of extreme higher learning, those doing the talking will lie through their teeth daily and never give its impact on 17 and 18 year kids another thought.

Anyone on The Farm know if Weir is out for good?
He's not listed on their list of coaches.

Man this is such a great example of a school that does well despite itself. You can throw almost any coach in with the athletes they get and fill their resume. For being such a "smart school" they sure are stupid. Ths isnt meant to be a knock on the coaches, hell they are young and smart enough to realize an opportunity and grab it but look at all the gifted athletes under performing that suffer. But they got great academics. And I am talking about all the athletes just not distance.

you have to remember this is about the throws coach and not to turn it into the rest of the team. They are doing just fine.

Sadly, and to the detriment of Stanford's program, Floreal got his way and the Gentle Giant is gone. -
that is sad that he is gone for whatever reason it may be...but even more importantly...who is coaching the throwers now????

No, they are not doing just fine. I don't think the men's XC team did "just fine" at Nationals. -
What does Monte (who was just inducted into the CAL Hall of Fame) think of his daughter coaching at Stanford, on a Voluntary basis no less?
