Seriously? makes many good points in defense of Oregon.
1) Kiptoo was 14th two years ago and he and rupp are looking like a force.
2) Oregon ran very well and spanked wisco at home.
But we'll take some time to refute point #2 a bit.
The problem with the home victory (but what we didn't point out in the article as we were tired of typing) is what's happened since then. At the home meet, Oregon did run well. They put 5 ahead of portland's #3. At regionals, Portland's #3 beat Oregon's #3.
The issue to us is it pepars that oregon's 3-4-5 have regressed since then (or the other teams have improved since then).
Trujillo was running great early in the season.
Trujillo was 9th at the home meet which is quite good. At pac 10s, he was 21st. Not very good. Mercado who was 29th in the team scoring at NCAAs last year, was only 39th at pac 10s and his bro was only 28th.
If Trujillo was running the way he was earlier in the season, we'd say they'd win for sure as it really wouldn't matter where there 4 and 5 were as they could be as much as 40-50 points ahead of Iona after 2 scorers.
3) We're not saying Oregon can't win. We just don't think they should be favored to win it. It's wide, wide open this year as Lananna said himself.
