He looks like a cross between Dave Moorcroft, Dave Wottle, and Nick Rose.

i ran against bromley a few years back and cant beleave he ran this time. He made a really big break through three years back and has only got a little better each year. Still a 1.47 runner. Hopefully he will make a big jump this year he certainly has the ability to run 1.45. Looks like the aussies are starting to get better. Gregson's run amazing! Well done
Rick Dolby can be as good as Buster yet! When hes finished his apprenticeship at Rays garage!
Never thought id see a home and away troll on letsrun!
yesterday Gregson ran 14:14.35 for 500m to break the Australian under 18 record by 6 seconds. It was not held by Mottram, instead by Mark Thompson in 14:20.0 at World Juniors in 1996.
Gregson himself thought he could break the 1500m 3000m and 5000m Australian records and has now achieved two of the three and hasn't raced over 1500m yet.
He is racing the 1500 next thursday night at the zatopek meet at olympic park melbourne. It looks like the 1500 record will be his there.
Sorry thats not next thursday rather the one after that.
The original Home & Away troll was hillarious. Anyone else think that Indiana Evans is the hottest chick going around or am I heading towards becoming a pedophile?
Does anyone on letsrun know how Shawn Forrest is going? He was an outstanding junior talent in Australia but went to America and has never quite gone on with it. I always thought that he was a potential (an over used word) world championship 5,000 or 10,000 metres finalist. Is he in any sort of shape to run sub 28 soon?
It's great to read about this Gregson guy running the sort of times that give real hope for a successful senior career. With Mottram currently doing well (apart from Osaka) on the international scene some may think that Australia is in the midst of a mini distance running boom. This is certainly not the case. Today there was a major 10 km fun run in Melbourne with approximately 4,000 entrants. The winner only ran about 30:45 and probably only the first five ran sub 34. I ran about 37:20 and was well inside the top 40. The depth in high standards is very poor. There are a lot of 'joggers' around but not 'runners'. This is somewhat due to people working longer hours (therefore not having the time to dedicate to regular hard training) plus there are more sporting options today like triathlons. It's not like it was back in the early 80's in the days of Deek.
Was he born 9 months after John Walker tied one on?
I can't see Bromley as as international class athlete, nor ever running the Olympic qualifier over 800m or 1500m. Having said that he is a great national finalist, The real deal is Jeff Riseley who is 20 and came off a season with 146.6 and 341. Following him are a number of talented runners a 17 year old 800 runner under 150, a 15 year old at 153, there are 8 15 year olds in australia at the moment under 4:05 for the 1500m and all are probably capable of running sub 4:00 this season. Australia is on the verge of a boom for sure, if not in the funruns.
Australia has 5 guys aged between 20 to 23yrs all under the Olympic B standard of 1:47:6 for the 800m, reisley, renshaw, krummins, brommley and bother so to say they are not capable of running the A qualifier of 1:46 is very narrow minded....its also great to see some even younger tallent comming through too though!
Thanks sceptic for the update on Aussie talent. Jeff ran for Knox athletics not so long ago and took up the sport late so still has more improvement in him. The 1,500 is probably his major chance to impact internationally. Hope this thread becomes like Vipam's one about Bekele and in a few years time we're writing about Gregson and co's great exploits!
Notice in that 3k the big break thru by Brad Croker. Awesome run from a guy who only has one testicle. ( true story).
Gregson is not with nic bideau. he runs for kembla joggers and his coach is Ian Hatfield.
sceptic,
i think Bromley can make a big jump in the next year or so over 8 and 15. He has run a few B qualifiers (i think) which means nothing, but he is certainly getting more professional with his running ever since being coached by Nic Bideau in the last year or so. Remember some great runners have come through after college or toward the end of there college years. 1500 could be a better distance but i think he might be able to go 1.45. Riseley is in my age group and was nothing big until last year, is is getting better and i think could be a shot for teh Olympics. I think Gregson will go close to Bromley in the 1500m's at Zatopek classic in a few weeks.
Gregson is most definitely with Bideau and he ran another record yesterday in the 1500 3:43
Riseley went over to europe and improved to 1.46.3 and 3.38.5
Gregson is a superstar!
gone again!
Is this thread some sort of sick joke?
Some funny stuff on this thread!
