I am not arguing for eligibility for Gay--something strange about a person that would do what he did to his "team." Nowadays he is a world champion and since drugs aren't involved, who cares if a class was faked or not--the USATF, IAAF, and USOC are not generally concerned with character.
What Brauman and the others at Barton CC did was not done with the intent to move on to Arkansas (I hope the conspiracy wasn't that big). What Brauman and the others were convicted of and sentenced for was all done in Kansas -- federal crimes -- stuff that is just a tiny bit more serious than the NCAA violations.
The falsifying grades and academic work for Gay is despicable. The guilt by association will now be used for years against the Hogs with only a few taking the time to separate issues.
Meanwhile the football and basketball teams will continue to operate at full-tilt, while the track and field team reaps the benefits and blessings of half-baked knowledge spewed forth by letsrun posters.
I bleed Razorback red and am deeply ashamed at what has happened in Fayetteville. I also am too many years removed from there to know any more than what the papers say. I am amazed at the number of Razorback insiders here, all fully ready to tell all.
