wow, that is quite nasty. I cant wait for trials time, man.
Well, we'll see. His mileage is a little low.
Umm....when did he get into the trials? I know he was appealing...He made the appeal?
Alan
He qualified in Akron at the Air Force Marathon. It was posted on this board at the time.
That said, he probably just blew his wad in training.
I apologize to Ohioans, it was in Dayton.
Air Force Marathon in Dayton, keep up.
He qualified at The Air Force marathon.
Oh yeah..forgot about that....I'm getting old.
Alan
I think it was the Air Force Marathon where he qualified.
i think everyone knows he qualified at the air force marathon. Lets' see how many times we can mention it.
Yes, that is nasty, but: the way it is written it looks like he was rigging on the 20 miler (each mile he lists is slower than the previous), and he stopped to watch Hall (we don't know how long) before running the last 10k. So, not exactly a 2:22 marathon in training. But I hope he brings it at the Trials --- the more the better!
Wow. I'll be honest- I find that a bit hard to believe... 2:22:xx at 7000 ft is easily worth 10 seconds per mile at sea level, so we're talking about a 2:18:low type of marathon effort in practice. For a guy with his PRs... wow.
He's always been hailed as a workout beast, so I guess we'll see how that translates into his race. I wonder if all of those guys training together have discussed race tactics at all, or is it going to be every man for himself? Could make for an interesting training environment.
wait a second, it doesn\'t seem like it was all in a row. i think he is saying he did 26.2 miles that day in 2:22, but not in a row. he did his 20 mile workout, stopped and watched hall finish up, then on the cool down he still went 5:20-30 pace. still a beasty workout, but it seems like he did have a break. i hope that is the case, because if it was really continuous then i feel like that is just going way overboard. it will be interesting to see how he does in 3 weeks. still a very impressive comeback thus far.
I caught that as well. While reading that post I was thinking, why did he continue at that pace after the workout was finished?" Still not sure and not sure that it translates into a good effort come race day.
The guy could kick my ass, no doubt, but with our current crop of world class marathoners he will need to run 5-10 minutes faster to have a shot at being in contention. No easy feat when you are already running 5:05 pace.
It was a simulation workout. He didn´t run a marathon in 2,22 in practise.
EVEN AT HIS BEST HE WAS OVER HYPED.
He qualified at The Air Force marathon.
Are we talking about practice? Practice? What are we talking about...practice? Man, we talkin abo....? Practice? We talking bout practice? Not a game...not a game, not a game, we talking about practice? What are we talking about? Practice? Not a game....not a game...not a game that i'd die for.....not a game...we talkin about practice?
