I've had 2 NIKE watches in the past. Once the original battery craps out you are pretty much SOL. I'll never buy another one. I've since switched to the Timex Ironman Sleek....got it at Target for $35. Does everything I want and it's been flawless. I recommend it highly.
Don't doubt your experience but it isn't mine. Not with the Triax Speed, anyway. I've already replaced the battery in this one once. I've got a running friend with the Triax Stamina with the same experience.
Personally I don't like the higher end Nike Stuff either (HRMs and such) but these plain running watches have been excellent, IMHO. I prefer them over the Ironman mainly due to easier ergonmics and a better display, but admittedly you can't go wrong with an Ironman. They alos have a "display-off" feature that cuts power to the display to preserve battery life. Somewhat like a screensaver.
