Anyone ever run on prednisone? I took it short term (less than 1 week), but the benefits were noticeable. Ran 20 miler with no soreness or discomfort whatsoever. Any ill-effects coming off this steriod?

Staying on prednisone comes with plenty of ill-effects.
"Tell your doctor if you have severe abdominal pain or black stools, and also report any unusual swelling, weight gain, tiredness, bone pain, bruising, non-healing sores, visual disturbances, or behavior changes."
"Prednisone suppresses muscle inflammation and the normal immune response.
Side effects
Long-term use of prednisone can lead to adrenal suppression. Side effects of treatment with prednisone can be depression, euphoria, hypertension, nausea, anorexia, high blood sugar levels, and increased susceptibility to infection. Prednisone must be used cautiously in HIV+ people because the drug is immunosuppressive and can increase the risk of getting opportunistic infections."
I am in a state of euphoria of the reply. Wait, now I am anxious and depressed.
It depends of how much and how long. 60mg is high dosage. If you are under 10mg...you shouldn't have to worry much.
Don't be fooled by your euphoria. Prednisone is an awful drug and you can become very dependant on it and is sometimes is very hard to taper off of it.
Prednisone (Cortisol) breaks down your muscles and turns it into fat and glucose to be more readily available for energy. So intitially you will feel great 'cause you have lots of energy. (I ended up running for 90 minutes and then swimming for 90 minutes and went to work fro 12 hours and still had energy left) But the bad thing about this is you are breaking down your muscles. So recovery time will be less and your muscles will feel like mush especially if you go overboard with your workouts.
You will gain weight very fast and retain water. Noticeable weight is on your face and in your midsection. Don't try to go overboard on your workouts to attempt to lose weight...the stress of the strenuous workout will not help you get off the drug.
You are much more prone to stress fractures, twisted ankles, knee problems on high dosage of Prednisone, so you really need to stay away from intervals and tempos while on the drug. (I twisted my ankle a few days on Preds and my knees and feet started to hurt pretty bad)
