    Alright how about a good thread. I don't just want little high school kids putting out dumb names but would rather like to hear who everyone thinks the top Male or Female freshman will be this year in D1 cross. I don't care if the red shirted their first year or what. Just as long as they are considered freshman this year.

    My vote goes to Kurt Benninger of Notre Dame. I for one respect the kids range. He has made world cross on two different occasions. He has run 1:51, 3:49 and the 2nd fastest Junior Time in Candian history in the 3000m (8:10). For anyone who can't convert well his 1600m and 3200m times would be around 4:07 and 8:45.

    For girls I am really not sure right now, so I would like to hear what the rest of you think.

    A guy named Tom Lancashire from England who is at Florida State has some impressive credentials. One that comes to mind is that he rab a 3:44 1500 last season and he was only 17 years old when he did that. Now he's 18 and having a go at the cross-country, might be one to look out for.

    Obviously Sam Vasquez is a standout frosh also.

    Why are their so many praises for Solinsky? This kid has already ran insane mileage going into college. He is definately closer to being an over achiever then under. He could surprise me... but I guess we will have to wait till after November to see how he does.... Any other big freshman or transfers?

    One point about Kurt's 3k, he won beating Paul Morrison (of texas). This kid is amazing and will be ready to roll. He was 50th at World Cross, ND is a darkhorse top 10.

    How about Hortian from Iona, he was rather close to Kurt at world xc and actually beat him at their Ontario championships in Canada. He should help the Iona team in the years to come.
