Many good coaches out there, but the best is clearly Rovelto at K-State. He is a high jump coaches' high jump coach. If you asked all the very good high jump coaches who the best is, the overwhelming majority will name Rovelto.

If the kid is an excellent student and willing to relocate (not clear from previous posts), I'd have to suggest Cornell. Their jumpers (including HJ) have done phenomenally well under Coach Taylor.
Thanks for your imput.
check out Oklahoma too, Jeremy Fischer was a high jumper and does a good job with coaching the jumps

Kansas State, Nebraska, Texas and Oklahoma are the best high jump schools in the Big 12. Texas A&M is a joke in the high jump. Auburn, Georgia and Arkansas would all be good in the SEC. Minnesota is excellent as well. On the west coast you should certainly look at Cal.

Tell yourself to learn how to read. The kid wants to look at school outside of Cali.
Tell yourself not to throw stones in glass houses. The alleged teacher said "No, my student just became a jounior in high school. I do know that he wants to look for schools our of CA.
You're just assuming that "schools our of CA" = "schools OUTSIDE of CA."
Frankly, if all teachers in CA spell like this one, I'm concerned for the condition of their educational system.
This post is several years later but Kansas State is the best University High Jump program today. USC would be the best on the west coast.
Cliff Rovelto at KSU has coached multiple NCAA high jump champions in the last 20 years (35%).
Tell the young high jumper to choose a college/university which fits their academic needs. Pick a school that has a surrounding city the youngster likes. Choosing a school based on a coach? Coaches come and go.
