The drinks issue aside, I think that the awarding of the Trials to NYC was perhaps one of the worst decisions made by the USATF.
I think that Akron, Ohio, (or was it Toledo?) would have been the best choice.
Even though I ran like crap in Birmingham, I was treated very nicely by the race organizers before, during AND after the race. They did a great job, but yes that race is a bad memory for me.
The NYRRC is a great organization, but they should focus on what they do best: Putting on a truly spectacular 5-borough marathon for the elites and the masses.
They said that NYC will allow for more media exposure. So fk'n what!?!?!! The 2004 Trials races, in February and April, produced 2 medallists, and there was not a huge amount of media exposure.
