Where are the live updates?
updates...anyone?
Least important mile race ever.
Well, there are so few mile races for this caliber of American athlete now...especially women. I think something like three or four of the faster U.S. women's mile times in 2006 were at Falmouth.
And with good reason.
anyone have updates?
Riley 3.57
Solinsky 3.58 maybe?
I forget 3rd and 4th Jefferson was 4.06, martrinez or someone was 4.07 maybe, last guy was 4.08
Pacer brought the whole field through in 2 min, 2.58 and then riley lid it down. Solinsky couldn't respond.
The whole field was alot faster than I thought.
Someone also fell. A pretty decent guy from arkansas forget his name though
Women's race was close, i know mortimer got second...race wasnt too fast, more tactical
did christin wurth win the women's? and was it summerside that fell?
12th Annual CIGNA FALMOUTH MILES
MEN
1. Jonathan Riley, Madison, WI 3:57.07 CR PR
2. Chris Solinsky, Madison, WI 4:00.10
3. Brad Lowery, Bloomington, MI 4:02.54
4. Rod Koborski, Washington, DC 4:03.18
5. Aucencio Martinez, Alamosa, CO 4:06.86
6. John Jefferson, Eugene, OR 4:07.79
7. Nick Weidman, Marlboro, MA 4:08.45
Took the lead with 300 and ran away from Solinsky. Riley, PR and CR, really looked strong
WOMEN
1. Anna Willard, Ann Arbor, MI 4:37.55
2. Amy Mortimer, Providence, RI 4:38.44
3. Christin Wurth-Thomas, Springdale, AZ 4:39.11
4. MaryJayne Harrelson, Newman, GA 4:40.48
5. Anne Shadle, South Sioux City 4:42.18
6. Michelle Sikes, Lakewood, OH 4:44.99
Not a real fast pace: with 200 to go Willard moved inside, then powered away from the field up the home straight. Mortimer stayed in good position all; and pushed hard on the home straight to get second

Really random field..But heard it was a great race... Great runs by all... Heard the conditions were hot and windy.
It was a kenyan that fell...
from Victah Sailer
In a prelude to tommorrow's historial 35th running of Cape Cod's Cigna/Falmouth Road Race, the 12th annual Cigna/Falmouth Mile at Falmouth High School saw 2 fantastic finishes for 2 Osaka World Championship hopefuls. The men's mile saw erratic pacing on a cloudless perfect New England Summer day(72F/22C). Anticipating a 2 minute 880 yards on the way to set up a sub 4 minute mile, the rabbit flashed thru 440 yards in a hasty 57.6, then slowing when first time sub 4 minute hopefuly, Brad Lowery(USA) pulled thru 880 yards at 1.59.2
Leading into the penultimate lap, multi NCAA 5km champion Chris Solinsky(USA) took a slight lead over Jonathon Riley(USA) in 3.00.7 with 440 yards remaining. Reilly who has stayed in top shape as the alternate for the USA Men's 5km team for the World Championships dusted the field with a final lap of 57 to claim his first Cigna/Falmouth Mile and the fastest ever outdoor mile run in the state of Massachusetts in 3.57.07. He was the only man in field to break the historic 4 minute mile.
In the woman's mile, Three USA World Championship contestants tested themselves over the mile and as in the mens mile it was a strong last lap that the Cigna/Falmouth Mile Champion topped the podium. Racing without any rabbits, the woman passed 440 yards in 71.4 before slowing to 2.25.6(74.5) and 3.34(68.4) before heading into the last lap with 1500m Osaka team member Christine Wurth-Thomas(USA) at the front. NCAA Steeple Champion, Anna Willard(USA) showed some great finishing speed in going Wurth-Thomas(USA) for a 63.5 last 440 yards to win uncontested in 4.37.55
I believe it should be MR for Meet Record, instead of CR for Course Record, as I believe the Falmouth Mile is indeed run on a track.
Absolutely great run by Riley. Good to see Koborsi approach 4-minutes as well... he's getting some wheels.

Oh, I thought "CR" meant "College Record". That confused me because I really thought that Jim Ryun, Todd Harbour, and Joe Falcon ran faster in college. I don't know if there are any others, none that I'm aware of. Course record on a track is weird.
