In reality, Jacob had special shoes for this race. They were filled with the "spooge" cushioning system to prevent his legs from getting tired from the pounding and the "belvedere" control system so his arches wouldn't collapse.

True story
the hanson brothers are d-bags that lost a good athlete because they are arrogant jerks.

Get your facts straight. They take it seriously.
NOT THE MARATHON THEY DON'T.
I am still waiting for that lengthy list of fine marathon credentials from this field.
I don't hear anything........
Both Mexicans have recently run 2:11, De Lima is the Olympics bronze medalist, and several others from the 2:13-16 range.
did he happen to collect that "spooge" off of someone's knee?

1. I talked with Jacob just before he left Michigan. He had nothing but positives to say about his time in our state. He told me that he left for Law School.
2. I talked with Kevin Hanson about Jacob after he left and he told me that Jacob was an extremely hard worker that he thought would eventually run real fast in the marathon.
3. Your statement makes it sound like the hanson brothers are making money off of a "good athlete". Just the opposite. Let me give you the arrogant jerk part. Your statement should read (if it were true). THE HANSON BROTHERS ARE D-BAGS THAT LOST THE ABILITY TO SPEND MONEY ON A GOOD ATHLETE BECAUSE THEY ARE ARROGANT JERKS.
I don't think that the Hansons will be hurting no matter what athletes choose to accept their donations to the sport.
Congrats to Jacob who ran a great Marathon while attending Law School. That is a magnificent accomplishment. Kevin announced it to all of us wanna be's at the interval workout last night. He sounded very proud of you.
Because you heard Kevin say a few good things in public and you live in Troy you think you know what goes on a few miles up Rochester Rd.?
I am not sure how much more of an insider I would need to talk to? I talked with Jacob and Kevin. Are you suggesting that an anonymous poster would have a greater knowledge of what goes on?
I am proud of Jacob. I am proud to be living in Hanson country.
I understand that anonymous posters taking shots is the way things go on here, but I don't get it.
If you are an insider (no way) then leave a name and prove that you are not just an anonymous poster.
If you have been treated poorly by Hansons or Brooks or Saturn or our local running community, I would think you wouldn't have any problem stating your name. If you are an outsider that doesn't know how hard these athletes work, then I can understand your sitting in your Lazy Boy being critical.
"We suck" -- I am unwilling to look up PRs, but Silvio Guerra, while gettin on in years, almost won the Boston Marathon a few years ago. Has run under 2:10. Luis Fonseca has run 2:11.
In 1999 Brazil sent 2 sub-2:10 marathoners to the P.A.G. (including V de Lima, 2:08 PR) -- just abt the best they have. De Lima defended his title in 2003.
So, yeah, they take it seriously, because by and large thse are the best guys these nations have in the marathon.
If you're a better runner than Jacob and Chris, then quit worrying about the guys behind you and work on beating the guys ahead of you.
If you're not a better runner than Jacob or Chris, then quit belittling their achievements, because that will only be an obstacle to your progress if you are trying to beat them.
And if you don't care whether or not you're a better runner than Jacob or Chris, then why cheap-shot them anonymously?
Me, I'm a worse runner than Jacob and Chris, and I think they did very well. Fellas, if you are reading this, congratulations.

First, you've decided the merits of the "anonymous poster". Who said anything about not being proud Jacob? What does how hard the guys work have to do with any of this?
I'm sure you're right though.
Good job Heeb

Excellent Point. Brooks, Hansons and now Saturn are all paying for these athletes to train. If athletes within this program are complaining, then that speaks volumes about the athletes. The athletes that I have met seem very appreciative of all of their sponsors. As they should be. Negative comments are usually made by jealous others. I think that we can assume that the kid riding the "short bus" falls into this category.
Great job to Jacob! My question though is why run a marathon so close to the trials. He has only 3months to recover and peak again. I am not saying he won't run well at the trials, but that is quite a hard turn around to make.

Because Jacob has a 0% chance of making the Olympic Team. Accepting a position on the US PanAm team is an incredible accomplishment. Why turn down a US team so that you can finish 15th in the Olympic Trials?
Frey once outran a car on Interstate 64.
Also, I heard that Frey, while driving, mooned another car through the windshield. I can't even fathom the logistics of that.
Frey has 11 toes.
Frey is a highly renowned pickup guru.
The word "Abstemious" isn't even in his vocabulary.
Frey once challenged Stephen Hawking to an academic decathlon and won.
What kind of argument is that.
If I have problems with the Hansons, Brooks or Saturn and I am on the team why would I say it on letsrun with my name? Much easier to diss them from behind an anonymous name. If I ripped K or K I would hear it at the next meeting and probably have to do some community service.
Funny, you talked to Jacob and Kevin. Was this before or after Keith foamed at the mouth and yelled "you're a f'in asshole" at Bloomer park repeatedly. Or was it after they sat Jacob down on the chair at Bloomer and told him he was scared of Boston and the heat for choosing LA instead (they gave him the choice initially). He wasn't focused on 2016 and didn't have what it took to be an Olympic caliber runner.
Did Kevin tell you how they told Jacob he had to skip his LSAT's so he could be at the Hansons XC race. He then made Jacob contact 6 high schools and do speeches there. You probably think the Hansons runners do all those appearances because they like it.
You’re probably at the meetings too or in the car when they bash the runners behind their backs. Why would Kevin go to Dodge Park and bash an athlete, yeah that looks real business like. He fooled you and the rest of the community.
You think Jacob is going to burn the powerful Hansons bridge because you asked him how he felt. If you knew I would see your boss/landlord/agent/coach tomorrow, would you air your grievances to me about how much you don’t like him? Not a smart move on your part if you did.
The Hansons put on the image of caring and the athletes don't spill the beans to community runners like you.
Frey is an incredible athlete, if I were a marathon runner I would fear The Frey... and I'm Chuck Norris!
If you are out there Frey, congrats on a great race. Remember Chuck Norris is always watching!
As much as your post has brought back some of my similar less desirable experiences while being at Hanson's it probably does you no good to voice them here. I know that it sucks to see a lot of praise for K and K when we have both had different opinions on them. My suggestion is that you let it go. I have and I feel better for doing so. Just be glad that you know how things are/were and that you are better prepared to handle them.
Nice job Jacob. It is great to see you run well.
damn i was just going to use a chuck norris story on how jacob kicked his ass, but i was beaten to it.
i remember when I used to be able to beat jacob on oak valley. i think that was over 10 years ago. Good job jacob.
who is tribe chief?
I am not sure about this rant. If you are a current athlete and you feel this way, why don't you leave. You sound like a disgruntled employee that continues to work at the same job. Just leave. Don't anonymously criticize your employer.
If current guys are unhappy with K&K I'm sure they have their reasons for staying. Most of them are in their 20's between college and a real job. It's a big commitment (that all of them make) to move from wherever and put your degree on the back burner. The opportunity to train with a group and reap the benefits of that group in particular probably makes for a tough decision.
