Thomas Brooks doesn't get a A standard by Aug 1st so he will not be going, letting Fam in.

Actually Aguayo just ran an 8:20 i believe, cracking the A-standard. I think this means Brooks is in with the b.[
Yeah the rules are weird, but it will be McAdams, Aguayo, and Brooks...as long as the two guys ahead of him had A, Brooks could go with B...so now Aguayo has A
Yes, Brooks is in
An AMerican beats him by 11 seconds today and he is in. Our system is fair some of the time, but it sucks others.
So the American recod holder (Lincoln) doesn't get to go and the only American to break 8:20 (Olinger) doesn't get to go. Good system!
yeah, good job to lincoln and olinger. we should reward the former for something he did over a year ago and the latter for being unable to run faster than 14 other guys to get out of a prelim.

It is a good system. Neither Olinger nor Lincoln got the job done at Nationals. Neither deserve to go.
I agree that it's a bad system for sending the best team. I would propose a system where the first two at nationals automaticaly go, but the third athlete is based on a series of performances at nationals and afterwards, and would be voted on by committee. Of course, there would be differences of opinion, but at least we wouldn't be sending an athlete that's obviously injured or not at top form. Under this system would most people pick Olinger? Fam or Lincoln haven't run much after nationals.
oh. great. a committee. yeah, no controversy there. i'm sure that will be cut and dry. couldn't see any shenanigans going on with such a system...
Impressive by Olinger from his interview.
13:33PR on the 21st
8:31 steeple on the 26th
LONG RUN BECAUSE HE WASN"T IN TO HEUSDON on the 27th
Traveled that day and ran 8:19PR on teh 28th
That attitude is what has returned to our American distance runners. Also, what happened at USA's; did he fall or something to not even make finals?
Maybe the trial should have been run this weekend (like the Kenyans) instead of three months before worlds?
very nice indeed wrote:

Yes....Brian did fall over the water on the 2 or 3 lap. Got back up in last place--made a dumb move, most likely because of the fall and went stright to the lead by 200m.
Not sure how much this had anything to do with his preformance. BUT--it is freaking hilarious that many of you on here bringing this up.
I've seen soooo many morons on here asking why he's still running and he shouldn't have a contract, etc....
Looks to me like Brian has the US LEADING steeple.
Alex and Brian are the future of this event.
by Alex...you mean Aaron?
