Someone else already mentioned this but could it be possible that the track is a little short? It seems as though almost everyone had a pretty big PR...

No....the track is not short, just fast!
The track surface is baby-bottom-smooth and bouncy Mondo, and it is shaped slightly differently. I think that the straights are 110-120 meters, and the curves are 80-90 meters.
Notice that in the 100, 200 and 400 meters, almost no one runs a PR, but in the 800, 1500, steeple and 5000, there are a huge numbers of PR's. This is due to the shape of the track.

What a great year for american 5k runners it has been even without any of previous years fast 5k runners Goucher, Hall, Broe running a fast 5k or one at all.
Not a knock on the americans, but it seems like the Canadians are kicking some serious ass too. In the B heat of the 5K they might have out scored the americans.
A good meet! The Belgians really now how to enjoy track and field. It was like a big tailgate party...one of the funnest meets I have been to.
Wow, that is a huge PR for the Swedish runner in the steeple, Mustafa Mohammed. I know he is really Somalian, but he was usually running in the 8:20+ range. Now all of a sudden, 8:05!
I could see tight turns hurting sprint times, but how do they help distance times? Serious Q.
The tight turns should also have no effect on the 100...

Great run by Solinsky and a breakthrough by Asmeron. Who is coaching him?
yeah baby! way to go bolota!
LOL! Almost... but I can't believe the straights are 110 meters maybe 105. a 90 meter turn would be pretty tight.

Mohammed got down to 8:14 last year.
