As I recall Edwards tested positive for modofinil (anti-narcoleptic, a stimulant), they stripped her of the gold medal and gave it to Anastasia Kapuchinskaya, who, at the time, was serving a 2 year suspension for nandrolone.
That's right, they stripped the gold medal from someone who used a stimulant and gave it to someone who used steroids.
But hey, an American got screwed, so its all good.

That is all.
Kaouch seems like a sympathetic man to me.

Anyone with a disgustingly cute tag line like "that is all" is automatically considered a pain in the ass.
Has an American male distance runner ever tested positive for anything? In the history of track and field?
Pretty sure we're entitled to feel superior in these arguments.

Eddy.
You can't feel "superior" in these arguments when you traditionally suck year after year, and we do. If that's the case, let's get all of the countries who have never had athletes test positive but have never been in a final where anyone talks about their athletes in the first place join in the conversation for self-esteem boosters.

An American? Feeling superior?
Wow, that's a new one to me.

Not on the world stage, unless you mean consistently bad.

Chicken lover, Chris was probably still suffering from his respiratory ailment. He is tentative for an 800m in Lignano on Sunday.
so the US is No#1 when drug cheats are accounted for? Ha.
I think people use 'United Statsian' to distinguish the US from the rest of the continental american countries. The term is used quite often where I am from.
Everyone at that level is likely a doper. The clean ones are the ones that don't get caught.

What, exactly, do you mean by 'the world stage'? He's raced quite well in Europe in 2005 and 2007 (there's no doubt he was very fit last year, ie 27:3x, before he got injured). If you are referring to his performances in the Olympics or WCs, well he improved significantly from one to the next (making the finals in 2005). We'll see what he does this year. As I said, his progression over the past 3 years is far from suspicious:
2007: USA Outdoor 1,500m champion (3:34.82MR)...USA Indoor Mile champ (4:01.07)...1st at Paris (3:30.54)...1st at Reebok Boston Indoor Games (3:55.18, Indoor PR)...1st at New Balance Indoor Games (3:56.70)...1st at Drake Relays in 1-mile (3:51.71)...1st in 1-mile at Reebox Grand Prix (3:52.94)...9th in 2 mile at Nike Prefontaine Classic (8:23.97).
2006: 1st at Stanford Cardinal Invitational (27:34.72PR)...6th at adidas Classic (8:33.92)...11th at Nike Prefontaine Classic (4:00.87)...ranked #5 in 10,000m in U.S. by T&FN...bests of 4:00.87, 27:34.72.
2005: 1st in 1500m at USA Outdoor Champs (3:41.97)...9th at World Outdoors (3:41.04)...8th in 5,000m at ISTAF Berlin (13:10.86)...3rd in 3000m at Nike Prefontaine Classic (7:39.28)...3rd at Rieti (3:32.52PR)...4th in mile at Oslo (3:48.92PR)...runner-up at London (3:33.16)...2nd in two-mile run at Nike Prefontaine Classic (8:11:48)...6th in 4 km (11:48.3) at USA XC...ranked #2 in U.S. by T&FN...best of 3:32.52 & 3:48.92.
2004: 1st at Olympic Trials 1500m (3:36.13)...9th in opening round at Olympic Games (3:41.25)...8th in USA Cross Country Championships Open 4 km (11:31)...4th in USA Cross Country Championships Open 12 km (35:21)...1st in mile(3:50.83PR) & 1500m en route (3:34.42) in Nike Prefontaine Classic...4th in mile at Tyson Foods Invitational (3:57.52)...1st in 1,500m at Home Depot (3:35.71)...1st in Round B at Seville in 800m (1:46.53PR)...4th at Thales FBK-Games in 1500m (3:33.70)...1st at Home Depot in 1500m (3:35.71)...1st at Penn Relays in 5000m (13:46.31PR)...ranked #8 at 800m, #1 at 1,500m by T&FN...bests of 3:32.73, 3:50.84PR, 1:46.53PR, 13:46.31PR.

It's the United States of America. Therefore, Americans.
No one ever calls people from other countries on the American continents Americans. They're always Canadians, Brazilians, Mexicans, Peruvians, etc.
United Statesian is a stupid term made up by people who need to fit in with their buddies who use every opportunity to put down the USA.
World Stage = Olympics, World Champs, Golden League, yearly top 10 event world rankings
Beating up on B-rate (or worse) Africans is all that US milers since Scott and Spivey have really done.

Ok then, let's see... he was 21 in his first Olympics. Didn't run so well, but he was totally outclassed by the field. When he was 22, he made the 1500 WCs final. Ran a very poor tactical race and paid for it, but not a bad meet for him nonetheless. He's 24 now and just entering his prime... why don't you hold off criticism of what he's done on 'the world stage' until we see what he can do in Osaka. I will stick by my original point- he has been consistently improving since 2004. His rate of improvement is certainly not dramatic enough to offer any sort of empirical evidence for doping.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
