i just saw an interview where the lead singer of plain white t's said he wrote this song for Delilah DiCrescenzo, a former runner from Columbia University who was pretty fast. he said he wrote it in order to try and get her to go out with him but she shot him down anyway, haha. kind of a girly song, but i kinda like it. if you're depressed i think it'll do the trick of pushing you over the edge.
this makes me like the song more, knowing it didn't work. makes it more realistic.
I first heard this song while driving through the streets of Rome. I can't listen to this song without thinking of that trip. Really great song!

I heard a similar story that the song "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" was written about Brie Felnagle, who goes to UNC.

Wow...that's pretty crazy. I never met Delilah personally, but I saw her run at the Illinois State Meet a couple times and watched her results casually since she went to Columbia. Never in a million years would have guessed it was about her.
