Big East XC 2007

i think Nova may be better than people think. These freshmen they have are pretty good. one was 50th at world junior xc, another is a 3:44 1500 guy. i still reckon we will smash them, but they'll be much improved from last year.

we have too much depth.

Benninger has no cross eligibility. But ND can easily replace him with the likes of Jamau, Kuz-daddy, J-Warrior, and Brock ... what?... oh... scratch that last one

Where did Hagerman end up?

Gtowns the obvious favorite def. I think ur right about Nova making a run for 2nd.

I believe he has chosen to follow Franklin to NM.

Man no love for PC, only losing Fagan, which I agree is a big loss but pickin them 5th after winning? I may be biased having run for them years ago, but lot of talent still. I will say second behind GTown who is obvious favorite. Also Loiuville will do well, but Nova? C'mon. Cuse will also be in the mix. Here's my order:

GTown Always solid,

PC returning 4 of top 5, I am biased here

ND similar to PC with loss of bennigner

Loiuville Very solid team. Could be first or 5th. have alot of talent but lack of experience

Cuse gettin better but a long way to go even if they got a solid recruiting class

Nova had same exact talent as last year but couldnt put it together. agree bobby was injured but still could not produce at prenats with whole team

Nova and 'Cuse may need to generate som at large points throughout the year.

Actually PC loses 2 of their top 5. I don't think Weidman has any cross left.

Who will be the top 10 individuals?

Beninnger has no XC left for Notre Dame and Villanova does not have anyone that finished 51st at World XC who will actually be running for them in the fall

1 -- Georgetown -- Should not have trouble winning

2 -- Louisville -- Emerging program

3 -- Providence -- Lose their top dog

4 -- Syracuse -- Could be nipping on PC's heels for auto

5 -- Villanova -- Will have to see it to believe it

6 -- Notre Dame -- Could be in for a fall unless brought something in we dont know about

Bottom half (in no order):

Marquette -- No coach, could be a mess

Pittsburgh -- Replace their 4 seniors with sprint hurdlers

Cincinati, Connecticut, Rutgers, DePaul, S. Florida, Seton Hall -- Not sure if there is any news here

The Golden Dome has Paul Springer 851 and Jackson 855 coming in. 'Nuff said.

Cuse has got some legit talent on the way in from what i hear..

Doesnt mean a whole lot when it comes down to it. At least not in cross. there are other things to consider. its not always the most talented team to win, just the best on that day...for example PC last year, who were definately not the most talented team. or when ND won two years ago in 2005 in the closest race in history...when Kurt, Kaleb van Ort and Sean Odonnel ran together and got the win. In conference cross country experience, brains, and work ethic have a huge impact.

they also have the NZ high school xc champion, hugo beamish

so with curtis kerrigan and these 3 its a pretty good start.

Nova has:

Curtis, so only effectively score 4 as folks said.

Kerrigan should be much improved after sub 4 and was top 15 at Regions last year.

Papazian former FL Regions top 5 , but has been ill, will rebound and have a big year.

Hugo Beamish 8:20 3K and 4;12 and NZ Nat Champ

McKenzie 3:44 1500

Guest 14:20 5K and Aussie XC Champ

Brian Long 8:20's 3K Penn winner

Mix that with returners and a year older, Rudy Belko(3:52 frosh 1500), Kevin Sives 3:51.x frosh 1500, Dan Lewis on rebound as well.

I don't mean to be technical but when did McCarthy ever run 1:48. I think his best was 1:49.9.

You're talking alot of track times here. I mean if we are talking track times look at ND because they probably have everyone beat in terms of speed on the track. Every top 5 tean in the BigEast has pretty much the same guys as Nova, if not more depth. I'm stickin with my guns here and gonna say Georgetown, Loiuville PC, and ND are gonna mix it up for top four. To the above poster I think wiedman has a 5th year, but not sure.

What are the predictions for the women. Georgetown?? Vill ?? Prov.
