Anybody got Sundodger results. Not up yet...
Paul Kezes (Western Wash. U- transfer from Western State, CO) pretty much toasted the field, with Mike Hill (CNW) 2nd. Women: Sabrina Munro won easily in the Invite, but Emily Mondor took down her course record by a second in 16:05. Results should be up tonight.
Does anyone actually run faster after Sundodger? Is this course short or waht?
The course terrain is fast but not blazing (never level and no pavement), so it might be a tad short as the times are fast. The times are consistently about 10 seconds/mile slower than the track equivalent, i.e. about 25-35 sec. slower than track 5K or 45-55 slower than a road/track 8K.
here ya go:
(the results agate says Kezes' time was 2 seconds off the course record, but his time was 11 seconds better than the listed record by Mark Pilja???)
The course is not short. Jonathan Riley holds the course record from PAC-10s two years ago at 23:38.
glenn- thanks for the clarification. The course is fair and accurate.
Kezes ran a meet record but not a course record. But damn he looked comfortable doing it.
All I know is, he looked good the first mile. After that it was in the woods and choking on dust the rest of the way, for me. I believe it to be about 30 to 45 seconds off of a good road effort though. Young Mike Hill looked good too. Go CNW!!
Kezes is for real, I've been training with him and have run this course a few times. It is not a simple course, but it is fast.
i was there, saw about a dozen high school coaches with wheels measuring it out. i think 12 guys with wheels can do a better job making a longer course than making one short.
its pretty accurate, its a good place, down up down up, nothing too major and some flatish parts. its like when ur really tired u can still run hard on the slanting downhill parts so you can get some mental strength to go up it.
Not on topic, my apologies to the rest of the board. To the poster who used "this course is not short" as a moniker. If you've been training with Kezes then I might know who you are. I'd love to talk to you. Drop me an email.
